Shooting Circuit- Layoffs
Dimensions: 30 x 30, two goals at opposite ends. Place a cone a few feet from the right goal post at either side; this will be a start line. Split the players into even lines by either start line. All players need a soccer ball.
How to: The first player from each line signal to each other that they are ready, and they both play a pass diagonally into space for their opposite player to run onto, once they have passed their own ball they must run forward and strike their partners ball on the goal ahead of them first time.
Once they have shot, players must collect their ball and move to the back of their line (have players move to the back of the opposite line if it makes things run more smoothly)
Coaching Points: The feeder must attempt to play a pass into the advancing forward player to hit first time. Not too hard, not too soft.
Shooting technique, keep your head over the ball, decide whether you are going to go for power or placement. Plant your foot next to the ball and strike cleanly through the line of the ball, keeping your shot low.
Shape your body to suit the delivery you receive when taking the shot.
