Dimensions: 20 x 30 Yard area played length ways with a goal at one end. Set up 4 lines of players, one in each corner. Goalkeepers are optional to begin with. A supply of soccer balls should be kept by the players near the goalposts as they will be feeding the balls into play.
How to: A player by a goalpost plays a diagonal pass to the player in the opposite corner, the player can choose to take a touch or strike the ball on goal first time. The feeder by the goalpost that played the initial pass moves down the line to join the back of the line directly ahead of them. The player who took the shot on goal moves to the end of the feeder line directly in front of them. Play resumes with a ball played in from the other side.
Switch players from left to right periodically.
Coaching Points: The feeder must attempt to play a pass into the advancing forward player to hit first time. Not too hard, not too soft.
Shooting technique, keep your head over the ball, decide whether you are going to go for power or placement. Plant your foot next to the ball and strike cleanly through the line of the ball, keeping your shot low.
Shape your body to suit the delivery you receive when taking the shot.
Progressions: Feeders can throw/chip the ball up to the striker to test volleys/half volleys or control of a bouncing ball
