Passing round the Square
Dimensions:10 x 10 Yard square. Increase/Decrease area based on player ability and range of passing you want to see.
How to: Each corner cone will have a player by it. One cone will have two players by it and this will be the starting cone. Add more areas to accommodate more players.
There will be one ball with the players on the start cone, they must pass the ball Clockwise to begin with, to the player on the next cone then follow their pass to that cone, the player who now has the ball takes a touch out of their feet and passes to the next player, following their pass. The pattern continues until coach stops the drill.
Coaching Points: Make accurate passes, move quickly to your new position.
Take a positive touch when you control the ball- You know which direction you need to take the ball, try to set yourself up for the pass by controlling the ball in the direction you want to go next.
Be creative, imagine the cone is actually a defender when you control the ball and pass the ball. Imagining game scenarios and challenging yourself will make the training more beneficial to you.
Progressions: Move anticlockwise.
Chip your passes in the air for your team mate to control.
Time Challenge: Race against the other teams to perform a complete circuit (every player back into their original position)
