Passing team score points by successfully using the midfielder to link play together.
A successful pass to the midfielder in the middle followed by a successful pass back out to the midfielders team mates = 1 point
Defenders cannot leave the area and can only intercept passes
Coaching Points: Midfielder needs to be alert to the play, move quickly when you sense an opportunity. Remember to drop off before coming short for a pass to try to shake your defender and create some room.
Midfielder will not have a lot of time on the ball, make sure you are creating good space or making runs as supporting players in order to successfully link play together.
Supporting players need to be patient when creating an opportunity. Passing is used to relieve pressure on team mates or create gaps/opportunities. Do not play your team mate into trouble by trying to force an opportunity.
Support your midfielder; create an easy option if you see that your midfielder is in trouble.
Make off the ball runs- to draw defenders and create gaps. Exploit opportunities quickly when they come available.
