Dimensions: 30x30 yard square (Adjust based on number and ability of players)
Set out random 1x1 yard squares or triangles in your practice square. These squares/triangles are to be the players’ starting positions.
How to: Players must pass quickly to their team mates with an emphasis on how the receiving player controls the soccer ball. The players must attempt to use directional control to move the ball outside of their square/triangle with their first touch, in turn, moving outside of the shape to make their next pass. Once the pass is completed, they move back into the square/triangle ready to receive another pass.
A first touch will give you one of two things:
1-More time on the ball
2- Less time on the ball
Be creative, use different parts of your foot to move the ball out of one side of the triangle each time. Imagine a defender approaching from different angles when you make your first touch.
Have your next move in mind when you make your touch, try to move in the direction you would like to dribble or pass next
Progressions: Lofted passes- Control the soccer ball from in the air
