CLOSE CONTROL WARM UP
Dimensions: 20x20 yard square with cones scattered close together in the middle of the square
Players start in corners of the area in teams (this can work where players are in opposite corners and must tag the next player before they can move
How to: Players must dribble one at a time though the cones in the middle of the area. Being careful not to hit cones and also other players that may be dribbling through
Coaching Points: Understand the differences between dribbling and running with the ball.
Use different parts of your feet to ensure the ball stays under your control
Be creative- this is a practice, try to be inventive about how you work the ball to the other side. Don’t just opt for the easiest route
Progressions: Relay race. Start with teams separated evenly opposite each other. (two teams working diagonally through each other) Teams must race until they are all back into their original place in the line. Add seconds onto teams who hit cones, this is a control session.
